Updated version of the 6th NAP for Open Government 2024-2026 now available online

The updated version of the 6th National Action Plan (6NAP) for Open Government 2024-2026 is now available online. On 30 July, the OGP Point of Contact for Italy at the Department of Public Administration submitted the updated text of the Plan to Open Government Partnership (OGP); it remains valid until 30 June 2026.

The new version of the 6th National Action Plan is the result of joint work, listening and sharing, involving civil society and public-sector organisations engaged in implementing the commitments, supported by the Open Government Task Force experts and the Formez working group coordinated by the OGP Point of Contact at the Department of Public Administration, as well as the members of the Open Government Forum (FGA), which ensures the governance of the OGP community in Italy and monitors the Plan's commitments.

The main changes concern:

  • a rewording of Commitment A1, now more focused on the shared development of technical guidelines and the construction of replicable organisational models for open agendas;
  • the expansion of the partnership of commitments A1, B3, B5, C6 and C7, with the involvement of new administrations and civil society organisations that volunteered to take part in co-implementation. The new organisations joining those already involved in the commitments are: the Ministry of Culture and Avviso Pubblico for commitment A1; the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) for commitment B3; Actionaid for commitments B5 and C6; the Open Data Observatory of the University of Milan-Bicocca for commitment C6; the Department for Regional Affairs and Autonomies and the Puglia Region for commitment C7; and the Institute for Local Finance and the Economy (IFEL) for commitments A1 and C7.
  • the adjustment of implementation and output delivery timelines, revised to improve sustainability based on input from the 8 working teams, one year after the NAP activities were launched.

The 6NAP was developed through a co-creation process led by the Department of Public Administration and carried out by the Open Government Forum (FGA) with the contribution of the OGP IT Community, involving over 100 participants from public bodies and civic organisations.

This updated version reflects the intention to strengthen the link between open government and public policies, valuing co-creation, inclusion and transparency as essential drivers for improving citizens' trust and the effectiveness of public action.
